Mission

VoxChina.org (VoxChina for short below) is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit platform initiated by a group of experienced and accomplished economists. The mission of VoxChina is to be the bridge on economic issues between China and the rest of the world by providing informed analysis on the state of the Chinese economy and insights for reform challenges facing China today, and by analyzing the impact of the development in the rest of the world economies on China.

Activities

VoxChina fulfils its mission by:

Propagating and promoting research-based policy analysis on Chinese economic issues, including both impacts of the world economy on China and the Chinese economy on the world;
Providing informed editorial opinions on important economic events;
Encouraging reasoned discussions with divergent viewpoints about important topics;
Hosting theme-based forums on the opportunities and challenges faced by the Chinese economy;
Providing a platform for academics, policymakers and practitioners to exchange ideas;
Providing short training courses on topics of general interest.

Audience

General public interested in a deeper understanding of the Chinese economy and the connection of the Chinese economy with the world;

Academics with research interests on Chinese economy;

Government agencies making economic policies;

International organizations;

Journalists and college students specializing in economics and business;

Firms and institutions that can benefit from an informed view of the Chinese economy.

Structure

The content of VoxChina is managed by an editorial board which is in charge of contributing research summaries, soliciting and reviewing submissions (open submissions are welcome), and organizing policy forums; VoxChina will seek advice from an Advisory Board consisting of prominent public intellectual figures and academic scholars; the daily operations of VoxChina, including managing its main interface with the audience – the website VoxChina.org – and its contents and comments, will be managed by a small IT/logistic team; as initiators of this project, we will invite distinguished academics and policy researchers to join the advisory board and the editorial board.

Institutional Sponsors and Individual Contributors

VoxChina is an independent platform for exchanges of ideas. If institutions (including but not limited to universities, research institutes, other non-profit organizations, investment banks, and international organizations) and individuals share the VoxChina mission, we welcome their support as institutional sponsors and individual contributors, on the condition that they do not intervene on the views and policies of VoxChina. The decision on whether to accept an institution as a partner of VoxChina will be made and may be periodically reviewed by the advisory board. The names of all accepted institutional sponsors will be listed on the website of VoxChina. The names of all individual contributors (if not anonymous) will also be listed.

Transparency

We believe in transparency. The affiliations of the authors and any potential conflict of interest pertinent to the opinions and views expressed in the content of VoxChina will be disclosed. Editorials and Opinions will list endorsing and dissenting editorial members, as well as endorsing and dissenting comments given by readers.
