Hazel Bateman
Hazel Bateman is a Professor in the School of Risk & Actuarial Studies at UNSW Sydney and Deputy Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research. Her current research investigates pension choices in accumulation and decumulation and the role of choice architecture, information architecture, financial advice and financial literacy. She also works on design of and demand for retirement products including annuities, long term care insurance and reverse mortgages. Hazel works closely with the financial services industry, pension funds and policy makers in Australia and internationally and has consulted to a range of Australian and international organisations including the World Bank, the OECD and government in China and South Korea. She is a member of the Consultative Committee of UniSuper – the pension fund for Australian academics, the Scientific Committee of Netspar, the Expert Reference Group of the Melbourne Mercer Global Pension index, and the China Ageing Finance Forum.
